Blairgowrie sits on the banks of the River Ericht and is often referred to as 'The Berry Town'. The climate is ideal for growing soft fruits. Blairgowrie is a lovely small town with plenty of interesting Independent shops, cafe's and restaurants. Blairgowrie is in a fantastic location for exploring the area and Perthshire in general, it is an ideal holiday base. The list of excursions is endless - one day is not enough.

tell you about.

distilleries, gardens, towns and of course constantly changing and
stunning scenery. I suggest you follow the links on the left for

Walking - Blairgowrie has it's own Path Network - I have maps. The Cateran Trail starts and finishes in Blairgowrie and you are welcome to leave your car here. The whole of Perthshire is a walkers, hill walkers paradise. Try your hand at the Woodland Challenge, 4 areas in Perthshire with dedicated orienteering markers - Tayside Orienteers Whilst out walking why not try Geocaching, Perthshire has hundreds of hidden Geocaches, and it is great fun. Please have a look at Gilmore House's dedicated Geocaching page.
Ski-ing - We are only 35 minutes from Glenshee Ski Centre and the past two seasons have been fabulous for snow cover. Look at all my pictures on the Flickr icon link. Skiing in Scotland is the place to be.
Golfing - The championship golf course at Blairgowrie Golf Club is only a 5 minute drive away, and there over 60 courses within an hours drive, a golfers paradise.
Wildlife - Watch the Famous Ospreys along at Loch of Lowes as well as many other birds. I was lucky to get some rather nice Osprey photos which you can view on my blog. Watch the birds in my own garden from the comfort of the upstairs lounge and if your lucky a red squirrel. The whole area is 'teaming' with wildlife and there are even wild beavers on some of the local rivers.
Fishing - Plenty of famous Salmon rivers round here!
